Community Partnerships Part of the mission of the club is to involve Pyrmont community (and wider) in club activities.
Sydney City Council helped with a kick start funding package for the Youth Mentoring projects started in 2006. TAFE Outreach Petersham and Ultimo have developed partner youth programs. UTS Shopfront final year students in Visual Art designed our logo and this website and Business students developed a comprehensive Organisational Development Document. Glebe Youth Centre members have rowed and sailed the long boats. Sydney Secondary College students regularly sail and maintain the club vessels. Leichhardt Council has utilised our vessels and volunteers for sail training for youth at risk. Maybanke Youth Centre in Pyrmont and Green Square School have undergone an introduction to boat handling.The Dragon Boat Associations in conjunction with Pyrmont community, NSW Maritime and Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority have input on community harbour access facilities at the Anzac Bridge site. Youth off the Streets have utilised our vessels in a program for youth at risk. Local Maritime Businesses in the area have helped our development with assistance in moving vessels. NSW Maritime and Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority allow our operation from the Anzac bridge site. Sydney Maritime Museum also known as Sydney Heritage Fleet cooperate with us in developing mentor programs. The Tribal Warrior Association were an inspiration in our formative years as was the Maritime Museum. |
